It all started during my trip to Ujjain, a small city in Madhyapradesh. It was a long awaited trip and finally took shape after almost 12 years of waiting..! It was just a day's trip which was actually meant to meet two of the few amazing people I have, that is, my Nanu and my lovingly adorable Masi. Memories of my childhood flashed in front of my eyes merely by the name of the place, 'Ujjain'. I've had such great memories with the people, the house and everything that belongs to that city. I was dying out of excitement to see them all and spend some quality time with them.
We, that is, me, my mom and my uncle, decided to drive down to Ujjain. The travelling seemed so very long and I just couldn't wait to get there. So to avoid that restlessness, I decided to sleep all way long till Ujjain, and I ended up doing that too. After 8 hours of sleeping (travelling), I was finally there..! As soon as I reached, I jumped out of the car to get inside the main gate of the 'kothi' and meet Nanu and Masi. But as soon as I opened the gate and stepped inside, I saw a very strange but a familiar face staring at me with all the love in them. She was a four-footed beast, named 'Kajji'. She was a real beauty, decent looking, off-white in color with some brown spots on her body. She had an amazing glow on her pretty face and had a black dog belt around her neck, which made her look even more lovely. We had never met or seen each other in our lives, but still I could feel a strange connection with her. As she saw me coming, she came running to me expecting me to cuddle and pamper her. And I finally couldn't stop myself from sitting down next to her and loving her to her heart's content. That was when she let me in the house to meet them for whom i actually planned the trip..! After lunch, we sat down in the verandah to have our evening coffee. This was again the time when darling Kajji came to me with her warm eyes. Her eyes held in them love, care and affection for everyone and me. The evening passed by chatting with family and, loving and pampering Kajji. Then came D-day..! We had our morning tea and breakfast in the verandah, surrounded by Kajji all the time. While we all had breakfast, she watched us with the same love in her eyes. After breakfast, it was time to say goodbye to everyone, including Kajji. It was the saddest part of the whole trip. My heart almost got into pieces with the mere thought of saying goodbye to her, and so did hers. She didn't want us to leave, she wanted us to stay longer - her expression screamed that out loud..! We so wished not to depart but I had to come back, and none of us could change that fact. My last and final goodbye to her was when she came running behind me till the gate and had the saddest ever expression on her pretty little face. Her face that once had a glow on it, dropped down. (I still remember that face and get goosebumps all over me..!) The moment we departed was the moment of a silent promise, a promise that said we'd meet soon and keep that love for each other forever alive in our hearts..! |
